XCOM is the king of turn based tactical games and the fact that the reboot released a few years ago was very successful made the basis for a sequel. An important thing to note about XCOM 2 is that it takes place at around 20 years after the events that occurred in the game’s expansion. XCOM lost the war and you need to retaliate the best way you can against them.

What makes XCOM 2 special is that it allows you to command multiple classes within the game world and each one has a multitude of skills that you can use and upgrade as you see fit.

The environment is influenced by the world’s current state, which means that you can play the same map multiple times and have it look different.

The game integrates complete support for mods and it also features a campaign alongside a new 1v1 multiplayer mode that was a great addition to the first game’s expansion.

You can encounter new enemies as you play, including the ones that pertain to the new faction named Advent and you can also find new enemy types as well such as the Viper for example.

An interesting thing is that when you start a mission you aren’t detected by enemies so you can use stealth if you so desire in order to perform silent kills. The combat is faster when compared to the first game and mission are a lot more complex and varied, something that delivers an amazing variety all around. From complex, long missions to hit and run situations, XCOM 2 is definitely delivering an extraordinary value, not to mention that the game also integrates secondary objectives for the first time in the entire series.

The coolest thing in XCOM 2 is definitely the customization aspect which makes it very easy for you to modify the aspect of your squad, but also their personality and other traits. Aside from that, you can also access weapon customization, which allows you to modify our weapons depending on your needs and expectations.

The graphics in this game are improved exponentially and they deliver a much better quality than what you would expect, but the character models and animations remain similar to the first game, so you can definitely see a lot of continuity here. It seems that the gameplay is set to be a little more open world oriented this time around, something that surely delivers more tactical options and opportunities.

As you can see, XCOM 2 is set to become a major hit since it improves on just about everything from its predecessor. It really is a very good game and the fact that it tries to retain some of the great aspects from the older titles while also improving and adding in new stuff is a pleasant and exciting thing for sure. This will definitely be the game that will deliver the ultimate turn based experience this year, so you should totally try it out when it releases, in just a little while!
