Gamescom 2016 – The Expectations

Gamescom, the next biggest event for gamers after E3, has arrived for this year.

Gamescom, the next biggest event for gamers after E3, has arrived for this year. This time around the event is taking place in Cologne, Germany, a rather familiar place in the world of esports. Cologne has been the battle ground for esports professionals for the past recent years and this time the city is all set to rock the entire gaming world with some of the most exciting announcements. Although this year’s Gamecom hasn’t picked much attention, there is still some pretty exciting reveals lined up. Let’s have a quick look on the list.

Titanfall 2 Multiplayer Announcement

Titanfall 2 was one of the highlights of E3 2016. Unlike many other games lose the hype with the passing of time, this game as especially carried the momentum with continuous bombarding of new reveals. As was previously announced, the game will receive a multiplayer edition and Respawn Entertainment will showcase the maps, abilities and various other aspects. Vince Zampella, the co-founder of the company has also hinted that the game will soon be released on console platforms for testing.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies Release

Activision has decided to continue with the Zombification of their Call of Cuty franchisee. Gamecom 2016 will feature the Zombie mode of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare as the game has picked up pace even after the controversies after its trailer was released. It will be interesting to see if the game can repeat the same success of Black Ops 3.

Final Fantasy 15 Gameplay Footage Showcase

Even though Final Fantasy 15 is still being delayed, it seems we are going to witness the release soon as the Director Hajime Tabata has revealed that Gamescom will feature a 30 minute gameplay video of the game's "master" version. The game was recently announced to be delayed till 29th Nov., as the developers have shifted from the idea of releasing a first day patch to counter any issues, to the inclusion of the patch to the launch game files itself.

A Never Ending Ubisoft Lineup

Ubisoft has geared up to provide a ton of content and gaming experience at Gamescom this year. Some of the soon to release games, like Watch Dogs 2 South Park and Steep, are going to be showcased during the event. The Division’s agents will also have a firsthand look at the upcoming paid DLC - Survival. Assassin Creed enthusiasts who are already hyped by the news of a movie for the franchisee can have a peak at the Behind the Scene footages of the movie.

Microsoft's Xbox Fan Fest

Microsoft created a huge impact in last year’s Gamecom with Quantum Break, Scalebound and Crackdown 3. However this year rather than hosting a press conference, Microsoft is setting up a fan event where fans can have a look at their upcoming and recent releases, like Halo Wars 2, Sea of Thieves, Gears of War 4 and ReCore. There will also be an Xbox Fan Fest Showcase for 200 lucky fans to have an exclusive time with the big-name releases.

A mix of everything from Sony

As was previously announced, Sony is not going to officially reveal their VR on this gaming expo, rather they will save it for the next month’s PlayStation Meeting. However, don’t feel disappointed as Sony is planning to showcase Days Gone, Detroit: Become Human and Horizon: Zero Dawn with video footages. For those who are planning to attend the event can have a firsthand experience of the Sony’s virtual reality with some of the most exciting titles - Resident Evil 7, Here They Lie, Batman: Arkham VR, Farpoint, Gran Turismo Sport, Robinson: The Journey. Also to be featured is Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding and Destiny's Rise of Iron.
