Pokemon Go getting out of control – downloaded 75 million times

Randy Nelson, Sensor Tower’s Head of Mobile Insights, estimates that the game has likely garnered over 75 million downloads already while also becoming the fastest game to ever reach 50 million global downloads across both Android and iOS devices.

At this point in its brief existence, most of the truth surrounding Pokémon GO sounds like the kind of sales hyperbole usually reserved for once-in-a-generation console releases. Niantic’s mobile take on the cultural phenomenon had already shattered first-week download records for apps, and has been so popular that Homer from The Simpsons played Pokémon GO in a recent YouTube short in an effort to cash in on the craze.

A recent report from analytics specialists Sensor Tower now suggests that Pokémon GO hasn’t slowed down since its week one success. Randy Nelson, Sensor Tower’s Head of Mobile Insights, estimates that the game has likely garnered over 75 million downloads already while also becoming the fastest game to ever reach 50 million global downloads across both Android and iOS devices. Nelson further explained just how amazing Pokémon GO‘s success has been so far:

“To date, the game has been launched in just 32 of the more than 100 markets in which the App Store and Google Play operate…in all available App Store territories, the game is ranked No. 1 for downloads and revenue.”
