Last year, Mojang announced plans to bring its smash hit game Minecraft to Oculus Rift. While we still don’t know the exact date the game is coming to the virtual reality platform, we do know that it will be soon, as Microsoft has announced plans to bring Minecraft to Oculus Rift within the next few weeks.

Oculus Rift support for Minecraft is coming specifically to the Windows 10 edition of the game, in recognition of its one year anniversary. Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition released on July 29th, 2015, but fans shouldn’t expect Oculus Rift support to be added tomorrow to align with its exact anniversary. Since Microsoft said the feature would come within the next few weeks, an August release seems more likely.

If Oculus Rift support isn’t added by the end of August, maybe Mojang will wait for September 24th to bring it to Minecraft. That date coincides with MineCon 2016, which is scheduled to take place in Anaheim, California, and Mojang has already promised a “surprise” for Minecraft fans at the event. It stands to reason that the surprise in question could be Oculus Rift support finally coming to Minecraft.
