The Top 10 announcements of E3 2016

Let’s check out the list of our top 10 announcements E3 2016.

A new E3 edition has finished and, as always, there were some great announcements and trailers. Sure, there were some things that didn’t come true, but let’s see a list with some of our top 10 announcements and then we will also talk about the disappointments.

1. Detroit: Become Human

Detroit: Become Human is one of the intricate games with a unique plot, since we play in a future filled with androids. We get to interact with androids, perform a variety of tasks and just enjoy a unique, refined take on the neo-noir and thriller genre. The game is a third person title at heart and it does feature choices and a very interesting gameplay system.

2. Dishonored 2

Dishonored 2 delivers more of the same action packed gameplay but at the same time it also manages to bring in front the ability of playing as 2 different characters. The addition of Emily Kaldwin offers a plethora of new options. You still get supernatural powers but the upgrade system was further improved and now you can also access a variety of unique skills that are right there for the taking. The story is longer and more intricate, something quite normal from Arkane Studios.

3. God of War

The new take on God of War is very interesting because it manages to show us an older Kratos who seems to be retired and which goes back into the battle due to the latest happenings. The game is definitely filled with a lot of action packed moments and at the same time it delivers a refined, exciting and truly interesting gameplay experience. For people that want a new God of War with different mechanics, this might be the right one!

4. Resident Evil 7

Adding in VR within a horror game as popular as Resident Evil 7 is a bold move for sure but it might be one that will pay off very well. With RE7 we expect to have pretty much more of the same. The game is set to feature an entirely new set of locations, a good story and a fully immersive VR experience. It will have a massive difference but one that we definitely will enjoy.

5. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild brings back the grass root experience of the franchise as it manages to take the hero into a world without any major details. Items will now break when you use them excessively and you can upgrade them if you want. There are some great runes to grab as well, not to mention the game will also integrate complete Amiibo support.

6. Titanfall 2

Titanfall wasn’t a critically acclaimed game, since it lacked a few things cut the new installment wants. They added in a single player campaign which was the problem for the previous title and at the same time we will have more titans to play with. Another great thing to keep in mind is that the DLC will be free of charge, which is quite uncommon considering how expensive the first edition was especially when it came to its DLCs.

7. Xbox One S and Project Scorpio

People expected Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo to announce new consoles at E3. But while the last 2 refrained from any showcasing, Microsoft went right into action talked about 2 new consoles. A new version of the Xbox One which is slimmer and better looking called Xbox One S and a 4K version that will be launched next year, named Project Scorpio. Unfortunately, the latter one wasn’t displayed in front of the public.

8. Absolver

Absolver is a game that features a combination of Jedi Knight combat with dueling and combos. While little is known about the plot and just about anything else other than the combat, the overall gameplay is good and fun, not to mention very satisfying. If you like action based experiences this one might be right up your alley.

9. Crash Bandicoot

Crash Bandicoot was a hit for many years but recently it just didn’t receive any major entries. Thankfully, this is subject to change as Crash Bandicoot HD remaster is set to enter the gaming world. This is certainly a very interesting approach and one that will hopefully lead to more Crash Bandicoot games in the future.

10. Steep

Ubisoft likes making open world games, we all know that. But little did we know that they have a massive open world action sports game in the works. Steep enables you to explore mountains and have fun with many action sports all in a very refined, interactive and fun open world environment.

Disappointments

Yes, some major disappointments were a part of the experience as well. There were numerous games that people expected to come at this E3 but they didn’t show up.

                1. Half Life 3 – People are eagerly waiting for this one and they are dying to see it but maybe they will have to wait 10 more years until release!

                2. Cyberpunk 2077 was revealed a few years ago and since then everything is in a shroud of mystery for this game. It might come at the next E3 though, we will see.

                3. No PS Neo. It was confirmed to be more than just a rumor from Sony themselves but they said they are unable to show it at this particular time, they might show it until the end of the year.

                4. Red Dead Redemption 2 leaks started to appear recently so people expected to see this game at E3 as well. Unfortunately, there is no sign of it.

As always, E3 did bring both highs and lows. One thing is certain, there are some great games to be had and some of them will be on our way soon. Ubisoft actually launched a new game, a Trials and Blood Dragon mash up during the convention, which was quite interesting. Since the new games showcased here are more than promising, hopefully we will have a great second half of the year with amazing experiences and fun moments for gamers!
