Xbox One S showcase
As previously speculated Microsoft unveiled the slim version of Xbox One, the Xbox One S. Under the HUD it is packed with an ultra-high definition graphics output coupled with an enhanced power grid, and the entire thing is 40% smaller than the original Xbox One. Microsoft is planning to release it in the month of August.
Project Scorpio – The Most Powerful Console?
This however was not only console announced at the conference. Microsoft is aiming to touch the 4K elite group with the unveiling of Project Scorpio. The speculations are high that it is the next edition of Xbox franchise, Xbox 2.0. It will also be made compatible with Virtual Reality and will boast a mammoth six teraflops of power grid. Now that is something we call The Most Powerful Console till date. Microsoft is aiming to launch it in 2017 during one of the holiday seasons.
Gears of War 4 showcase, Halo Wars 2 delayed
A lot of surprises were lined up for Xbox and Windows 10 based gamers as Microsoft went on to showcase the co-op mode of Gears of War 4 highlighting an amazing storm-torn level. Adding to the mix, The Coalition, developers of Gears of War franchise, confirmed the return of Horde mode. A little disappointment came for the Halo fans as the release of the next edition, Halo Wars 2 is postponed till next year.
Detailed trailers of Scalebound, ReCore and Forza Horizon 3
Next in the queue was a spectacular co-op gameplay footage of Scalebound, showcasing a team fighting against one of the bosses of the game. There was also a brief appearance of another much awaited game, ReCore with some amazing third person shooting footage. Last of the games queued up for the conference was Forza Horizon 3. Along with new cars and impressive geography based on Australia, its ultimate edition will also include a Car Pass, Motorsport All-Stars Car pack, and a VIP membership.
Zombies, Zombies and more Zombies
Microsoft has impressed a lot of zombie game fans with the showcasing of Dead Rising 4 and State of Decay 2. While both the games have a storyline set in the post-apocalyptic era of zombie infestation, a footage from Dead Rising 4 revealed interesting new weapons and vehicles. On the other hand State of Decay 2 will have a cooperative approach in its gameplay as players will have to team up to fight the undead.
Dead Rising 4 will be out this Christmas while State of Decay 2 is set for 2017.
Ubisoft inaugurates their VR front
One of the interesting announcements of the day was Ubisoft’s intention of diving into the world of VR with the revealing of two game titles - Eagle Flight and Star Trek: Bridge Crew. The games will be playable on Oculus Rift and other platforms. Out of the two Star Trek: Bridge Crew grabbed attention the most. The game will have a co-op theme, something which is new in the VR world and each one of the pack will have different skill sets like engineers or pilots. Both the games will be out for sale after the concussion of the expo.
For Honor and Ghost Recon: Wildlands footage revealed
Apart from this Ubisoft went on to release footages of For Honor and Ghost Recon: Wildlands. While the single player campaign gave us a taste of the Vikings, an open world interface of Ghost Recon: Wildlands grabbed our attention too. Both games are due for the next Spring season.
No PS 4.5 yet, Resident Evil 7 VR footage and more
One of the surprise disappointments was that Sony decided to delay the announcing of PlayStation 4.5. Interestingly PS 4.5 is supposed to be compatible with their upcoming PlayStation VR and PSVR was previously announced to hit the market on 13th October. However to keep the audience engaged, Sony went on to showcase the VR interface of Resident Evil 7 and new footages of Final Fantasy 15, Batman Arkham and Star Wars Battlefront. To sum up, majority of Sony’s conference had its focused set on VR related contents.
New God of War is at sync with previous releases
Good news for God of War fans, the new edition is not a reboot of the franchise, it is in fact set years after the events of the last edition, God of War 3 and will now use Norse mythology. The footage however induced a lot of questions about the storyline of the game that can only be clear in future trailers.
A couple of trailers also caught our attention in the conference, the amazing open world of Horizon: Zero Dawn and the interactive narration of Detroit: Become Human.
New Spiderman title has promising new story
This particular announcement might get only a few of you gamers excited. Insomniac Games revealed an all new Spiderman title having a promising new storyline. Interestingly the game will be exclusive for PS4 platform. The game will boast an open world environment and is expected to be Marvel's most ambitious release till date.
Numerous announcements for PC games
With so much happening on day two, you might be wondering what happened with the PC games. There was in fact quite a lot of new announcements in the PC Gaming, ranging from the first gameplay footage of Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 3, Tyranny and Arma 3 Apex to pre-alpha demo gameplay of Vampyr.
