The new edition of Battlefield series has already created a massive hype since the official unveiling. However did you know that the idea of using a theme of the 1st World War, which was initially pitched by the developing studio, EA Dice, was rejected by EA Studio’s boss, Patrick Soderlund.

As revealed at the company's annual Investor Day briefing, initially the idea of trench warfare, used during the 1st World War era, was not all that exciting. “When the team presented the idea to me of World War 1, I absolutely rejected it. I said World War 1, its trench warfare; it can't be fun to play.” He added, “[World War 1] wasn't the most obvious choice. However we've had a lot of success in the modern military space and we felt like there was a need for a change.”

Later on the developers eventually got him convinced and the game finally got unveiled a few weeks ago. The game, as announced, is set to launch on 21st October.
