EA has announced that their plans of releasing a gigantic Assassin's-Creed-style action game has been delayed. This has come has a shocker and an a complete U-turn from their announcement released last year in which not only they expressed their interest in the category, they even have recruited former Assassin's Creed producer, Jade Raymond.
While taking about the announcement made on October last year, Blake Jorgensen, CFO of EA Sports said,
"We've never really operated in the largest genre of gaming, and that's the action genre. That's the Assassin's Creed-style games; more open-world, more single-play versus multiplayer. It's not been an area that we've operated in. We recently hired Jade Raymond, who was behind the Assassin's Creed franchise for Ubisoft, and she will be building an action genre for us through a studio we're building out in Montreal right now. So a lot of excitement around the action genre."
Jade Raymond is currently heading a team to develop two game: Visceral Games and a new Star Wars game. However as announced the games are set to be ready until EA's fiscal year 2020 or 2021.
