2k Games and Feraxis has announced the release of the sixth edition of their long-running 4X strategy franchisee, the Civilization. The edition retains many of the major game mechanics present in the previous release, there are some definite changes in other areas of the game.

In an interview with Game Informer, Ed Beach, lead designer of Civilization VI, has mentioned while taking about the changes in the game:

“One of the first principles with Civilization VI was to keep most of the subsystems from the finished (with expansions) Civ V around in some form. Civ VI builds off a lot of the design that Civ V finished with, but the code and the A.I. and everything like that is all implemented from scratch to fit Civ VI.”

Civilization VI is built on top of the core of the 5th edition while enhancing various aspects of the game. The players can now custom build their cities to take advantage of the local terrain. The players can also unlock boosts to speed up the progress of your civilization. Additionally apart from the existing traditional multiplayer mode, players can now have a coop mode too. Civilization VI is also included with an all new tutorial for those who are playing the game for the first time.

Civilization VI is set to be released on 21st October. As previously announced, the game will be currently available on PC platform only.
