ESL launches India’s premier esports event: ESL India Premiership

Indian esports is all set for a major revamp as ESL, one of the biggest global esports event organizer, has set their goals of setting new standards with the announce of an all new yearlong premier esports event, ESL India Premiership.

Indian esports is all set for a major revamp as ESL, one of the biggest global esports event organizer, has set their goals of setting new standards with the announce of an all new yearlong premier esports event, ESL India Premiership. The event is organized in association with the biggest and one of the most established esports organization in the country, NODWIN Gaming. The event was officially launched on 6th, while the tournament is scheduled to start on 16th of this month. Following is the press released by ESL while commemorating the launch of the event: 

Delhi, April 30th 2016 - ESL, a leading global eSports company, in association with NODWIN Gaming, India’s flagship eSports organization, is set to present India’s first annual mega event, ESL India Premiership. The event will host six online cups and three mega LAN events throughout the year while boasting a monumental prize pool of over US$64,000, translating to more than INR 42 lakhs in cash.

The Premiership is the biggest of all the events organized not only in India but also in the entire South Asia region. The event will present gamers the opportunity to participate as a team or an individual in online cups and win prize money, while further qualifying for LAN events, classified as Challengers and Masters. At each of the two Challengers, a total prize pool of INR 17 Lacs will be up for grab whereas the year ending finale named Masters will boast close to 20 Lacs.

“Considering the rich history of eSports in India, ESL has been eager to host mega events of this scale for quite some time. The Premiership will create history while setting standards for future tournaments”, said Ralf Reichert, Managing Director of ESL. “We’re confident that we can deliver a world-class experience to local and international fans both at the venue and online.”

The Premiership will feature four game titles: DOTA2, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, HearthStone and Just Dance. The online cups are set to start on 9th May, while the Challengers are set for the month of August, November and December. In addition to active participation, gamers can enjoy the daily action of matches everyday starting from 7 pm to 10 pm on Twitch Premiership Channel.
